You can’t and I’d really like to see evidence that shows closing all apps causes harm to the device. I recently started closing all apps on my iPhone 12 Pro Max and I’ve actually been having a better experience in terms of speed and battery life.

Agreed, thissAndrew. I have been using iPhone/ipad simultaneously since version 1 of each and worked at apple for a time. Having many open apps adversely affects battery life and performance regardless of what Apple or anyone else says. I have witnessed improvements in both categories many times with speed of apps freshly opened with no others running and also not watching battery drain rapidly while nothing has changed except apps where closed. Freeing up resources always results in performance increase. In my experience lately however there is one that is notorious for both symptoms which is safari last 2 versions. Simply closing it and switching to chrome often clears it up in the only close the problem scenario.

It doesn't harm anything. However, it can have a negative effect on your battery life. But, in the end, it's your time to waste.
