It won't let me view or quit the mail application and it's not letting me log off my account because of it. Whenever I try it says I can't unless I quit mail but mail won't let me quit, and when I click it to reopen it to try and close it again it won't even pull it up. Anyone else have any issues with this? How did you fix it?

You can always force quit an application
>Force Quit>Mail
When you go to relaunch the Mail.app hold the Shift key down and try again your mail
if necessary you can always force quit a shutdown by holding the power button/TouchID for ~6-10 sec.
Force Shut down your Mac.
Log out, sleep, wake, restart or shut down your Mac
Shut down or restart your Mac - Apple Support
