Video while audio continues

I have an ongoing problem with playing mvk files on my 2022 Mac Studio. I'm running MacOS Ventura 13.4 with a 64GB memory. For nearly one year, mvk files played normally on using VLC, however, starting about 1 month ago, mvk files would intermittently play fine but sometimes the video would freeze while the audio continued to play. All computer functions would also be frozen during this period. If the audio were allowed to continue, eventually the video would unfreeze.

I have tried several different solutions including uninstalling VLC and replacing it, reinstalling MacOS, and trying an older version of VLC from a Time Machine period where the video playback was functional. None of these work. Zapping the PRAM and NVRAM also did not change any behavior. Alternate video apps such as Elmedia player are also affected. The unusual thing is this is the same behavior that I observed with my 2019 MacPro and VLC. The system would run fine for about 1 year then this freezing behavior would start. Nothing would work to solve this. The error would also occur if the machine was opened in safe mode. The only solution was to complete erase computer and drives and reinstall all the applications from the beginning. Once this was done, the system would run the same mvk files and VLC playback would be without problem

I also find it unusual that this behavior has occurred on 3 separate machines (2016 MacPro, 2019 MacPro, and 2022 Mac Studio) now with different MacOS (Mojave - Ventura) over the years. The freezing was seen with iStat pro and showed system freeze as a hiatus in the activity logging. The problem always seems to be with VLC and mvk files and comes up after about one year of problem free operation. It is seeming like there is a counter of some sort that is accumulating values and then errors out. Any tips on this issue or anyone encountering the same problem would be appreciated.

I’ve used different players including elmedia and also get the same error. The unusual behavior here is that I e had this issue repeatedly over 3 different Mac computers with multiple different operating systems. I’ve had Apple work on four different trouble tickets and still no solution other to completely erase and reload all applications. I also have a Mac mini with identical os settings and do not have the problem. However that is a spare system that only has a few dozen uptime hours. The main Mac is my primary.
