Uploading to iCloud paused…

So I recently had to restart my phone, im currently trying to get my iMessages back. I have most of them, but something on the bottom popped up saying “Uploading to iCloud paused Plug in your device and connect to wifi”. Now here’s the issue, my charger port doesn’t work so I use a wireless charger where I simply set my phone down on it and it charges but it doesn’t unpause the process. Does it HAVE to be plugged in in order for it to continue? Or is there another way I can do this? ;(

Hey there joimar36,

As long as your iPhone is charging and connected to Wi-Fi as indicated per the message you received, you should be good to go. Since you are not, we're happy to check a few things with you.

First, iCloud storage is usually the reason items stop syncing, mentioned here: Manage your iCloud storage - Apple Support

"If you run out of iCloud storage, your device won’t back up to iCloud, new photos and videos won't upload to iCloud Photos, and iCloud Drive, other iCloud apps, and messages won't stay up to date across your devices. And you also won't be able to send or receive emails with your iCloud email address."

Clear your storage or add more, the put it on the charger, and see if it starts. It also might take a while, as it takes time for the storage to clear and the signal get sent through all the iCloud systems. Try charging it overnight and see if things change.

If not, try updating to the latest version iOS, which is iOS 16.5.1. Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

Let us know if you need more help. Cheers!
