Corrupt error while backing up the iphone 12 pro

“Itunes could not backup the iphone because the back up was corrupt.

delete the backup for this iphone in devices preferences, then try again” is the error i am keep on getting.

itunes->preferences-> devices has nothing. i usually backup my phone to an external hard disk, i tried connecting and without connecting the HD, i even deleted the old backups nothing seems to work. I have 4gb/256gb free space on the phone. Any help would be appreciated

By default, iPhone backups cannot be made on an external Hard Disk. If you had used a Symbolic link process to take the backup then contact the agency that suggested that idea because that never worked for me.

Alternatively, wait for other users in this forum to help you out.

Pointing the backup folder to the external drive used to work fine up until now. But the problem now is im getting this error with or without the external drive. I am not able to backup locally and i dont see any old backups yo delete.
