Did Apple switch the emoji select key with the numeric keyboard key in iOS 16? When I use the keyboard, I am expecting the numeric select key to be the leftmost key and ii am tapping the emoji key instead.
I opened up an old iPad that wasn’t updated to iOS 16 and these two keys are reversed on the keyboard. Why did they do this and is it possible to retrieve the previous keyboard or rearrange the keys?

You are correct in your observation that the two on-screen keys that you have identified have been reversed on recent models of iPad/iPadOS. The key positions cannot be restored to their earlier layout.
