When are repeat listens counted?

I like to listen to songs on repeat but I've noticed recently that when I listen to a song more than once in a row- no matter if it is on a single song repeat, if I just added the same song multiple times in a queue, or its the only song on an album or playlist which is on general repeat- it only shows up once in my listening history. This is really frustrating because it makes my data messed up (especially stuff like apple replay) and also I'm worried the artist im listening to is only getting paid for one stream's worth instead of several. I've put this as a phone issue but it happens on my laptop as well.

Is this a settings issue that I can fix or is this a bug?
