how can I actually enter words overlayed on photo in an album? Like name...location...etc

On a Mac, in Photos, choose Edit. At the upper right is a little circle with 3 dots in it. Click on this, and a menu will drop down with the first choice being "Markup." Choosing Markup will cause set of tools to appear across the top of the screen that allow you to draw or add text to your picture.
