I have a MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Mid 2014) and cannot update past Big Sur 11.7.7

The first year to use Monterey is 2015; BS is the latest you can use.


macOS Monterey compatibility

macOS Monterey was made available to download on October 15, 2021, and the most recent version is macOS 12.6.5. The following Macs are compatible with macOS Monterey:

  • MacBook Air models from early 2015 or later
  • MacBook Pro models from early 2015 or later

macOS Big Sur compatibility

macOS 11 Big Sur was the version of macOS that arrived on November 12, 2020, and the latest version is macOS 11.7.6. Here’s a list of the Macs that can run macOS Big Sur:

  • MacBook Air models from 2013 or later
  • MacBook Pro models from 2013 or later
