Alias email shows my real name

I have an alias email on iCloud alongside my regular iCloud email, and notice when I use the alias one and then receive a reply, people call me by my real name, and see that my real name is disclosed on the alias.

What's the point of having an alias then?

How do I hide my name on the alias mail?

Many thanks for your reply.

I’m not referring to the ‘Hide My Mail’ option when creating an email which creates a random address that forwards to my inbox - I’m referring to the alias you create on iCloud.com / Preferences / Accounts which you can create up to 3 aliases.  Here you can also change the Full Name too. I've used this for years.

I believe the creating an Alias on iCloud has been around for a while vs the Hide My Mail which seems to be a more recent option - these are 2 different things.  I use the Alias for a website I run and need the address to be specific instead of a generated one.

Hope that makes sense .......
