My Name in settings is grayed out

I am not locked out of my i phone, however i cannot download apps without my password and it tells me every password i try is wrong. When i click on reset password, it does nothing at all. No message or other screen opens. In settings, my name is grated out so when i touch it, it won’t open. Help!
