Overheating Charger for a 2017 MacBook 13” Air

I am wanting to respond about this topic. I had to replace the charger. When I went to charger, both ends, got pretty hot. I made sure it was the correct charger for my MacBook Air and it was. I had to remove a protective cover from the bottom and it as dirty and was not moving air enough to cool the laptop. I left the bottom off and really cleaned it good. When I went to charge again it worked perfectly…

One thing to be aware of, the Air Series laptops have different power requirements from no moniker MacBook and MacBook Pro.

Identify your Mac power adapter - Apple Support


So make sure you match the requirements for your model and vintage. Don't assume you can use an 87W adapter on a 45W machine. I've seen people burn out their Macs do that.
