M1 Macbook air drains battery when shut down

I shut down all applications, then hold the power button down before closigf the lid - yet M1 Macbook air drains its battery completelt in two months. Any way to prevent this?

It takes two months for your battery to self discharge? They do so at about 1% per day so if you started at 60% in 60 days your battery would be depleted. Some battery chemistries do better but 1% per day is good estimate for many batteries.


If it were my Mac, I'd not worry about it going dead in two months of inactivity. If your battery is not brand new, this may be the best you can get from it. Don't let it get depleted, this is not good for any battery. They need to be used.
