OS X 8.5 is Mountain Lion from 2012-2015
you do not say what exact iMac is this(?)— your hardware will determine if you can upgrade to a newer OS X. Advised to get to at least El Capitan if possible OS X 10.11.6 if you have any hope in upgrading further...
