Find My Network on AirPods

There is an option in the AirPods settings that says “Find My Network”, which is disabled. But when I try to enable it, it doesn’t allow me to, it says the previous owner can see its location and that they have to remove the AirPods from Find My. But I already called the previous owner, and they said that my AirPods aren’t on their Find My list of devices. Does anyone know how to fix this?
