Just got my first Iphone. I am trying to get the music on my PC onto my phone (well, at the moment I am just trying to get it into iTunes). I have followed the direction given by numerous sites: click on "file", "add folder to library" then just copy the music. The problem is, when I do this and got to the folder on my PC where I KNOW the music resides, the list is empty. iTunes doesn't see ANY music. The laptop I'm using has been "authorized."

When you use the Add Folder to Library command, you do not copy the music, so perhaps you have misunderstood the instruction.
When using Add Folder to Library, navigate to (but don't go into) the folder with the music in it. Select the folder, not the music in it. iTunes adds the contents of that folder to its database. It does not copy the music or even put the music "in iTunes". It simply lists the files that you have told it to add.

You were right, I misunderstood. That appears to have worked exactly as hoped. (and virtually all of the files were (are) MP3s
