How do I connect to my 3rd generation Apple TV without a remote?

how do I connect my 3rd generation without a remote. I tried connecting with my phone but it’s not picking it up?

Purchased Apple TV 3rd gen without remote (wiped) Hi, I recently purchased a 3rd generation apple TV box on facebook marketplace, but it didn't have a remote with it. Long story short, I ended up connecting it to my computer and wiping/updating the device, in hopes that having it fully updated would help it find my iPhone 12 to use as the remote. However, whenever I open up the remote app in the control center, it just spins as it looks for a device to connect to. How can I set up the TV without a remote? Thank you for all your help! Edit: For what it's worth, the TV is as up to date as possible, and my iPhone is on iOS 12. I also have an up-to-date macbook pro if that would be useful in this situation

2nd gen Apple TV only shows Computers and Settings even with a working network connection. My Apple TV 2nd gen only shows Computers and Settings, even while on a stable and working Internet connection. It hasn’t been used in a while because it had been replaced by a 3rd gen 2013 model. Just curious if I can get it working though.

If it’s been connected to a different network in the past login to the admin settings of the current network and mirror a know SSID/password. The device will automatically connect. Then connect your iPhone to the same mirrored network and use the iPhone remote app.
