how do i know if the water in my charging port is dry?
Well, water is never dry. If it was, it would not be water. But the port might be dry if you apply a few quick shots of compressed air and leave the phone alone for a few hours.
Unfortunately, most of the "water in the port" messages are not about water at all. It is usually dust or lint that is preventing good electrical contact between the port and the connector. Use a wooden toothpick to see if you can clean out the port.
