Notes in the iPhone will be overwritten by icloud (Notes App by Apple)

Hello Forum,

This is my first post and I realized I may need to post this problem of the notes app, and hopefully it can be fixed in the later IOS version. There are many iPhone users have been affected by this, some notes are very important for them, losing them is not a good feeling.

Situation 1:

If the iCloud is full and the notes @ iCloud haven't been fully uploaded to the server due to this, once you logged off the the Apple ID in your phone and relog back, you will lose all the notes that haven't been uploaded to the server.

For example:

Day 1 iCloud became full (5gb/5gb)

Day 2 you wrote notes @ icloud in your notes app

Day 3 logged off apple ID and relog, you will find that all the data haven’t uploaded due the the full icloud (only saved in the iphone) will be lost.

Situation 2

Mail setting-google account

If you changed your password of gmail but haven't updated in the mail setting, your notes will not be synced to Google server. So if you made notes after changing the password somewhere else but not updated in the iphone, google server will not have your notes. If you update that password in the later date, all the local notes which haven't been uploaded will be lost that the local notes will be no longer for you to read in your iphone.

For example:

Day 1 You changed your google account password in your PC, but haven’t updated in iphone

Day 2 made notes @ gmail in your notes app in iPhone

Day 3 Updated the password of gmail @ notes app, all the notes @ day 2 will be lost that the notes in the server will overwrite your local notes

The solution I can think of is:

Whenever the notes from server will overwrite the local notes, save the local notes in "recently deleted", give the customer a chance to recover their local saved notes, some of them might be really important.

Thank you very much!

Hi dachengfrommar,

The behavior you describe appears to be expected. Per the support article Manage your iCloud storage:

"If you run out of iCloud storage, your device won’t back up to iCloud, new photos and videos won't upload to iCloud Photos, and iCloud Drive, other iCloud apps, and messages won't stay up to date across your devices. And you also won't be able to send or receive emails with your iCloud email address."
