I get a lot of spam in my junk. Should I block it? It is sent to an email that is not mine.

Hello Josephine Lazarus,
Unfortunately, once your email is out there it is almost impossible to fully stop spam, scam, and phishing emails. Yes, the recommend course of action is to block all unknown senders! You can also set up inbox rules to filter out these suspicious / malicious emails. I linked two support pages below for help with this! If you need help, I can also help you set up rules if you give me some specifics!
Do not interact with unknown senders! Do not click on any links or attachments either! If able, you can purchase an iCloud+ subscription and unlock access to Hide My Mail. This will allow you to generate fake (random) emails to give to other people instead of your personal email. What is Hide My Email? - Apple Support

If the Mac is your property and has a mail account that's not yours ... remove that account.

If the spam is already in your Junk folder, it sounds as if Mail is doing its job. You can't prevent spam. You can only route it to junk and delete it.

It is sent to your address otherwise you would not receive it. Any address can be displayed as the "To" address. Your address is likely hidden in the "BCC" field.
You can't stop it. You filter it to your spam/junk folder.
You cannot stop it except by no longer using that email and creating a new one. Do not forget NOT to give that out unless a friend or business you trust actually needs it.
Unfortunately, for whatever reason, on our five Macs rules are not very good at stopping or rerouting junk mail. If you search this forum you'll find we are not alone in this.
Being it's our property, we elect to stop as much of the junk mail as well as website ads. The website blocking is very successful however.
Yes, I understand that but how do you stop it? I received 47 today. You can't use unsubscribe or you may just trigger more of it as it verifies that it's a working email address.
