In mac mail, opening program also opens faded out message and it cant be closed.

Macbook pro 15" running ventura13.4.1

When I open mail program, a faded out email message appears, sometimes 2 or 3 in same window. Does not respond to "X" on tab or red button. Have closed and opened program, rebooted computer. Nothing gets rid of the window. I can write and send new email messages, and respond to received emails, but I can't get rid of the "untitled" email windows.

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 10.13

Hello john1444,

You've posted an interesting issue with a window that you can't seem to close on your MacBook Pro. You mentioned it seems connected to the Mail app and that you've already tried restarting, but that hasn't helped.

One thing to check is to boot your MacBook Pro into safe mode. See if the window still shows. This could be a way of either narrowing down where this problem lies, or resolving it (allowing you to close it, etc.).

If that doesn't resolve the issue, you might next try a new user profile. This will just be to test to see if this issue is related to your user profile (most likely) or something overall with your macOS. Create a test user profile, log in to it , open Mail. You may need to temporarily configure your email account again.

Reply back with how it goes.

Take care.
