Website being redirected after Safari Version 16.5.1

Beginning approximately June 25, 2023 visitors to my business website using Safari browser (on Mac and mobile devices) are being redirected to a SPAM site after about 10 seconds. The site is some-app.com and at the top of the screen it says "Domain has expired. Contact your Provider". Our Domain has not expired, good through 2026. Visitors using other browsers are NOT affected (Chrome, Edge, Firefox), only Safari users. I suspected a Domain/DNS issue and called Go Daddy. They said that there have been reports of Safari "policies" problems following the latest update. Wondering if anyone else is seeing this and whether it's been reported to APPLE as a bug or problem with the latest Safari release that came out on 6.21.2023 (Safari 16.5.1).

Hey there and welcome to Apple Support Communities touche99,

We can certainly understand your concern and are here to help.

We recommend checking out these steps for more information on troubleshooting Safari issues with websites that do not load properly.

" If Safari isn't loading websites or quits on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

If you can't load a website or webpage, or Safari quits unexpectedly, follow these steps.

Connect to a different network

Try to load a website, like www.apple.com, using cellular data. If you don't have cellular data, connect to a different Wi-Fi network and then load the website.

If you're using a VPN (Virtual Private Network), check your VPN settings. If you have a VPN turned on, some apps or websites might block content from loading.

Restart your device

Turn off your device and turn it on again.

Clear website data

You can clear website data occasionally to improve Safari performance.

  1. Go to Settings > Safari.
  2. Tap Clear History and Website Data.
  3. Tap Clear History and Data to confirm.

Turn on JavaScript

Turn on JavaScript if it's not already on.

  1. Go to Settings > Safari > Advanced.
  2. Find the JavaScript feature.
  3. Tap the button to turn on JavaScript.

Get more help

If the issue continues and only affects a certain website or webpage, check if you have Private Relay turned on. You can temporarily turn off Private Relay in iCloud Settings. If Safari still doesn't load websites and you tried all of these steps, contact the website developer for more help."

I tried your site in Safari, Brave and Firefox. They all direct me to a page that says the domain has expired.

This of course doesn't explain the issue. I only tried it to see if it was really only a Safari thing. Other than that, I did check three different domain sites and they all confirm some-app.com is already taken. So, obviously not expired.

But it may be an issue with the registrar. That is, a glitch due to the name having been updated/renewed just a couple of days ago:

Registrar URL: http://www.networksolutions.com

Thanks Kurt, but to be clear — the issue is that some-app.com is NOT our site/domain — our site, shopvintagecharm.com, was being hijacked and redirected to the Some-app.com site which i can only presume is a hacker/bad actor. Go Daddy (our Domain provider) indicated there were numerous Go Daddy domains/websites reporting this happening only with the Safari browser, and having to do with Safari “policies”. In any event, the problem seems to have self-corrected; as of earlier today Safari users were no longer being redirected. Thanks for taking a look at it. Much appreciated.
