how to get bbc radio on homepod

BBC Sounds app is not fit for purpose. The BBC is self-serving when it should be meeting the needs and demands of its customers. Removing the BBC radio stations from TuneIn was a deliberate act to force listeners to use the Sounds app. The Sounds app may be a useful option for some but it excludes HomePod users from a simple means of listening to the BBC radio stations. The BBC have been losing audience share along with the best presenters for a long time now. This shows poor judgement by the management.

Is the BBC mad?

The national radio stations haven't worked on HomePod since the BBC decided to move everything to BBC Sounds. There may be some local stations that still have working Internet Radio Streams, but HomePod doesn't generally work with those either, you only get access to content via TuneIn, which to the best of my knowledge doesn't include BBC Radios 1 through 4.

I’m not a HomePod user (yet), so I can’t test this now. Allow me this question, if you will. As several BBC radio stations and Times Radio are available to me through Apple Music (via TuneIn) on iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and tvOS, then wouldn’t those also be available on HomePod directly (without AirPlay)?

Play audio using Siri on HomePod - Apple Support seems to suggest that broadcast radio stations as available through Apple Music, can be invoked through Siri there as well.

BBC Sounds for iPhone or iPad is a beautiful and complete app, though. Hats off to the developers.
