Activation lock removal

I had requested that the activation lock be removed from my daughter's phone. We had an issue with her apple ID and it was removed, but we didn't log off first, so now we can't log in with her password, as her ID no longer exists. Anyway, I requested the removal, and it was approved, but when i tried to restore it, it still asks for the password.

What are the next steps to remove the activation lock once it's approved?

Thanks

SN

Hi hoofpac,

When you received the notice that Activation Lock was removed, did you put her iPhone into recovery mode and restore the iPhone to factory settings? If you haven't yet, here are the steps:

If you can't update or restore your iPhone or iPod touch - Apple Support

Put your device in recovery mode and set it up again
1. Make sure that your Mac is up to date. If you're using iTunes, make sure you have the latest version of iTunes.
2. Connect your device to your computer with a USB cable.
3. On a Mac with macOS Catalina or later, open the Finder. On a Mac with macOS Mojave or earlier, or on a PC, open iTunes. If iTunes is already open, close it, then open it again. Find out which macOS your Mac is using.
4. Keep your device connected and wait until the recovery mode screen appears:
• iPhone 8 or later, including iPhone SE (2nd generation): Press and quickly release the volume up button. Press and quickly release the volume down button. Then, press and hold the side button until you see the recovery mode screen.

• iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, and iPod touch (7th generation): Press and hold the top (or side) and volume down buttons at the same time. Keep holding them until you see the recovery mode screen.

• iPhone 6s or earlier, including iPhone SE (1st generation), and iPod touch (6th generation) or earlier: Press and hold both the Home and the top (or side) buttons at the same time. Keep holding them until you see the recovery mode screen.

5. Locate your device on your computer. When you see the option to Update or Restore, choose Update. Wait while your computer downloads the software for your device. If the download takes more than 15 minutes and your device exits the recovery mode screen, let the download finish, then repeat step 3.

6. After the Update or Restore completes, set up your device.

If you have any issues with the process, we'd advise to contact Apple Support. Let them know exactly what happened, so they can help.

hoofpac,

If you deleted her Apple ID, you'll want to review the information here: How to delete your Apple ID account - Apple Support

Make sure that you sign out of all your devices to avoid issues with apps that use your Apple ID account or iCloud. After your account is deleted, you can't sign out of iCloud or turn off Find My iPhone Activation Lock on your devices. If you forget to sign out, you might not be able to use your device when your account is deleted.

If you are unable to restore the iPhone using the previous steps, reach out to Apple directly for more help as they'd be in a better position to look into this further with you: Get Support

Cheers.

Once Apple notifies you they've removed her Apple ID from the device on their end you need to follow the steps above mingoslkd gave you. Those exact steps should not ask for the password anytime during the process. Knowing this, where does it ask for the password still? Is it on the computer in iTunes/Finder? On the iPhone after you've followed and completed the above process? etc?
