The Internet & Apple advisor instruction is to connect iPhone charge socket to Mac USB socket for data transfer, but this connection charges the iPhone, not transfer data. I heard, after the iPhone is fully charged, data will be transferred, but I don't want to charge my iPhone 100% (bad for the battery). I used bluetooth instead. Please comment.

A wired connection will charge the iPhone and will also transfer data if you are doing iTunes/Finder-based synchronization.
