Afraid part of that is FALSE since there are two different KINDS of mail accounts; one where the mail if totally retained (IMAP) on the mail server and the other where mail is retained on a local computer account. It is this second type of account (POP) that is intimated in my original question. What I am not sure of is how SMTP is mated into the outgoing POP account which is the problem.
Here are the pertinent Snapshots of what I am seeing.
- create an outgoing email and send it.
- Original error message and click on "Connection Doctor"
- should be what is wrong and how to correct the problem but is nothing more than a message.
- Click on
- "Show Details" and this multi page output EVENTUALLY pops up.
For my understanding, what is the relationship and connectivity between the outgoing POP account and SMTP?
How can this be corrected WITHOUT all the rigamarole necessary to re password the account?

p.s. would not add a Pages Doc.
