Yes those are for Thunderbolt 2 drives and Video output using a Mini DisplayPort adapter.
see "Connection and Expansion" at > iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2015) - Technical Specification

For the 2015 iMac, you need a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter.

Are you running Ventura as your signature indicates?
No, not anymore. It's running Monterey. I really just need to know what adaptors and/or cables I need to hook up a Dell with USB-C and HDMI as a 2nd monitor.
Depend on the external display?
You need to use a Mini DisplayPort to (HDMI, DisplayPort, DVI or VGA) adapter in one of the Thunderbolt 2/Mini DisplayPorts.
Thanks, den.thed! Just to be sure, the 'Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter' will work, even though the iMac has Thunderbolt 2 sockets?
Great. I'll give it a shot. Thanks for your help!
You’re welcome.
