iPhone Shows Unread Text Messages But There Are None

My messages shows I have 11 unread messages. There are none. I've gone through all my messages many times. I have turned notifications of and on, forced restart, and my software is update. 16.5.1. How do I get rid of these Ghost messages?

Have you checked your deleted messages?

Open the Messages app. Tap “Edit” in the upper left. Then choose “Show Recently Deleted”.

Expect to find some unread additions or tapbacks there.
