disk & erased Mac?

I am selling my 2015 MacBook Air so I went to a fun little apple site that told me to log out of iTunes, iMessage and iCloud - and then to startup in recovery mode. Once I did this, it told me to erase my disk - and then I'd be ready to sell my Mac! well, now when it turns on it has no operating system. I turned it back on to re-install Ventura but it gets all the way downloaded and then says there is an error. I clicked on disk utility and there is a "AppleAPFSMedia" and underneath a MacOS, Preboot, recovery, update and VM. Also, an Apple SSD SM...... and disk images OS X Base...." the reboot, recovery and VM are greyed out, so I read somewhere to click "mount" on those and they stop being greyed out...BUT all the first aid on them fail besides "apple SSD SM02...." and if I click out and try to install MacOS again it still fails.

WTF is going on? I literally just wanted to erase my data so I can sell this Mac. Not break it! Please help.

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 11.6

Try the Following...

A. Use a USB Bootable Installer:

Create a Bootable Installer for macOS - Apple Support. Create it for Ventura. Then, try booting with it.

B. Use Internet Recovery Mode:

Try installing through Apple's servers. You hold down Option-Command-R upon boot.

"Ok I did realize after I posted to try the command, option, R button and it is almost installed so fingers crossed it doesn’t fail"

Keep us unto date. Let us know how it works out.

A. Troubleshooting the Update:

If of no success, it'd be an issue connecting to Apple's server. So, if Wi-Fi does not work, then you may need to use Ethernet. This is the adapter to use: The Belkin USB-C to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter - Apple
