If your AirPods are connecting to your phone when they are in the case, preventing them from charging properly, you can try the following troubleshooting steps:

  1. Ensure AirPods are properly seated in the case: Make sure your AirPods are correctly placed in the charging case. They should be properly aligned with the charging connectors and seated securely.
  2. Clean the charging contacts: Check the charging contacts on both the AirPods and the charging case. If there is any dirt, debris, or residue, gently clean them using a soft, lint-free cloth. Ensure the contacts are free from any obstruction that might interfere with charging.
  3. Restart your iPhone: Sometimes, a simple restart can help resolve connectivity issues. Restart your iPhone by powering it off and then turning it back on. This can help reset the Bluetooth connection between your iPhone and AirPods.
  4. Forget and reconnect AirPods: On your iPhone, go to "Settings" > "Bluetooth" and find your AirPods in the list of devices. Tap the "i" icon next to your AirPods and choose "Forget This Device." Then, put your AirPods back in the case, close the lid, and wait for a few seconds. Open the lid and follow the on-screen instructions to reconnect your AirPods to your iPhone.
  5. Update iOS and AirPods firmware: Make sure your iPhone is running the latest version of iOS and your AirPods have the latest firmware. To check for updates, go to "Settings" > "General" > "Software Update" on your iPhone. If there are any updates available, follow the prompts to install them.

If the issue persists after trying these steps, you may want to consider contacting Apple Support or visiting an Apple Store for further assistance. They can help diagnose the problem and provide you with appropriate solutions or repair options for your AirPods.
