OS X El Capitain won't install, no error messages

Hi!

I have an old Macbook Pro from late 2009. I wanted to completely wipe it so I did. Now, the OS won't install.

I can start the installation, the download begins and the computer restarts and all that, no issues and everything seems normal. However, when (what I assume is) the last step happens the screen just goes back to the "start". The screen where I can choose between disk utility, install etc. When trying to restart it, the OS is not installed at all. I have tried installing multiple times, probably around 10. Both before and after wiping the disk.

I am getting NO error messages at all, so I didn't really know what to search for.

So, summary; The OS installation seems to go as normal, but right before finishing it just sends me back to the "start" and the OS is not installed. No error messages at all.

Not that either.. I tried wiping the disk again and now the computer won't start at all. I'm guessing the harddrive was not in a great condition. Maybe the whole computer was tired. It's 14 years old after all and has been lying in a drawer for the past 8 years.

I doubt I'm gonna get it running again but thank you so much for the help so far! I'll see if I can get some life into it and if not, I'll just recycle it.

Edit: Nevermind, it woke up and it's alive again, haha. Still no OS installed though.
