Apple Music/Apple Music Classical "New Music"

I listen to many different genres of music but use Apple Music Classical exclusively for classical (duh) and Apple Music for everything else (mostly rock).

I also use Apple Music exclusively while working out, generally playing For you->New Music since one of the things I like about streaming services is music discovery.

Here's an excerpt of today's playlist in New Music Mix

  • String Trio in B-Flat Major (Schubert)
  • Violin Sonata No. 1: II. Andante (George Antheil)
  • 18 Chorale Preludes (Bach)
  • The Glass (Foo Fighters)
  • Drowning in the Void (NONEXISTER)
  • Cut from the Stars (Yes)

Seriously?

Yes, I'm interested in new music in several genres but combining them in a single playlist? Seriously?

What next? A Country and Death Metal playlist? Talk about when worlds collide!

Is there any way of having Apple Music keep genres separate in the New Music (and other) playlist unless I explicitly create a playlist containing different genres? Even keeping the "New Music" playlists separate between Apple Music and Apple Music Classical would be an improvement.

If not, this sure is dumb.

Hi Mixed_Mode_Listener,

Apple Music will present new music based on songs, albums, and artists you have listened to in the past. These new music recommendations will be done under a single playlist titled New Music.

If you'd like to see a change to this categorization in the future, you can let the appropriate teams at Apple know by providing your feedback here: Feedback - Apple Music - Apple.

Have a great day!
