I'm running Ventura 13.4.1 on an iMac. Can I fill out PDF forms sent tome using the standard Preview in the system? If not, how do I go about it? Thanks for your help ...

You can start with Preview, and if you encounter headwinds, switch to the real PDF tool in the free current Adobe Acrobat Reader DC. Adobe keeps its PDF capability current and form filling should be a breeze.
You are welcome. Form designers often like to use Adobe's Acrobat JavaScript (AcroJS) for form field behavior and calculations. Preview does not acknowledge the existence of AcroJS (as would Acrobat Reader), and that can hobble form filling in Apple's PDF reader.
