Yearly spreadsheet with coloured part cells.

Hi I am totally new to Apple's numbers and have no idea where to start in creating my own spreadsheet (I can't find any templates that are quite right) I am aiming for a yearly spreadsheet with each cell having the ability to be fully or part filled with colour (as I have tried to show in this image)

Any help or if you are able to point me in the right direction, would be hugely appreciated! Thank you :)

I'm guessing you are trying to do a simple Gannt chart.

If so you can use a chart in Numbers to produce something that looks like this:

This may work if you can live with month numbers instead of month names.

Change the task names to flower names.

See the 'Stacked bar - 3' sheet in this document (Dropbox download).

Hi Sue,

The only way I know of how to fill a cell with two colours is with a gradient fill or, better, advanced gradient.

To make the fill automatic, perhaps it is possible to use Conditional Highlighting with many (!) rules.

More information on your overall aim may lead to more useful suggestions.

Ian.

Hi Ian

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond :) I have managed to make a start (as shown in the pic) but I will now try to add gradients as you suggest, I think (& hope) that should work just fine!

The aim of the spreadsheet is to create my own planner of the flowering periods of plant varieties.

I'm not even 100% sure that a spreadsheet is the best way to do this, but I will persevere ..... now to crack on with those gradients.

Thanks again

Sue
