How to send the program change number from multiple patches?

When I have multiple patches send the same program change number, only the text "Duplicate" appears in red and only the top patch sends program change, as explained in the manual. How can I make it send the same program change number when pressing any of the patches below the top one?

The use case is that I have an external preamp that I'd like to set to a particular channel when using different amp modelling plugins on different patches in mainstage. In the image, when slicking Emissary, I'd like for it to also send the program change 1.

By following this video I was finally able to send a program change by making an external instrument output channel strip and selecting it in the mixer and then selecting the MIDI Output tab in the External Instrument Channel Strip Inspector. There, a checkbox called "Send Program Change" can be found.

I did not like the user experience here at all! Why does mainstage pretend to have a setting to send a program change on patch change inside Patch Settings, Attributes tab? This is extremely frustrating as I spent a long time with the wrong setting!

Is there any way to make the Program Change in Patch Settings, Attribute tab the actually send a selected program number or is it just a useless thing to confuse users?

The reason things weren't working for you is because the Program Change parameter in Patch Settings is to RECEIVE program changes, not TRANSMIT program changes. See the User Manual pg 47-48, and pg 64-65

Perhaps read the User Manual and learn how to use the software before complaining that it doesn't work.
