Permanently remove iphone from list of available microphone devices on mac

Ever since the latest update, I have seen that whenever my iphone gets near my mac studio, suddenly a black screen appears with notification that "you can disconnect to remove this iphone from the mac microphone list" and a disconnect button in red.

This is extremely annoying as I never intend to use my iphone as a mic for my mac(I already have a quality microphone plugged in). And thats not even the main reason. The main reason is that whenever that screen on my iphone appears, then whatever is the active app gets terminated.

If my iphone screen display is off during the time when iphone mic is connected, it does not turn on the screen even after hitting the power button or the home button. It takes 4-5 seconds and multiple attempts to resume the screen.

This is really terrible and I need a way to prevent this auto connection. Tried the MIDI option, but I don't see a disconnect button or a way to permanently remove iphone microphone from the list.

Well, I was having this same problem, and in my case, I've resolved it via iPhone:

go to Settings > General

Tap AirPlay & Handoff

toggle off Continuity Camera

After this, the iPhone mic disappeared from the Input List on MacBook and I am having peace.

So annoying. Bing helped me figure it out:

  1. Open System Preferences on your Mac. Have your iPhone nearby.
  2. Click on “Sound.”
  3. Click on the “Input” tab.
  4. Select your iPhone from the list of available devices.
  5. This should make that annoying notice pop up on your phone. (if it doesn't I have no help for you, sorry, I tried)
  6. On your phone, click the red "disconnect" button that popped up.
  7. You will see that your iPhone has now disappeared from your mac's list of input sources.
  8. Problem solved.
