iPhone 13 Pro camera is not working

I have the same issue. The screen comes up black when I open the camera app. If i open it to the selfie mode, it takes a minute but comes up, however the main camera screen stays black. I talked with somebody through the apple messaging app and they ran the analytics and said it s a hardware issue. I tries updating, hard resetting but nothing worked. I went to Apple to see what they can do about my camera not working and they tested it and said something was wrong with the hardware. The camera is not working. The antenna is not working nothing I did cause it but it was just a hardware issue and it would cost me over $600 to fix it or actually $549 plus tax so I went to AT&T AT&T told me that I can use my insurance but my deductible was $275. I waited a couple days went to a different AT&T store and this young guy literally does a hard reset on my phone and Walla my cameras working , so try a hard reset if you don’t know what that is, it’s gonna be the volume up volume down just one time in that order and then hold the power button down until the Apple symbol pops up. That’s it!

My iPhone 13 Pro Max just started to tell me that it did not recognize my camera in my settings. My camera works perfectly my videos work perfectly. I just had a iOS update today 18.something.something. Can somebody tell me why my phone thinks my camera is messed up when it's not? Thank you in advance.

my rear facing camera would lock up but the front face(selfie) camera would work. Rebooted the phone and it would work fine. Then with the latest software I got the unknown camera error and my .5 zoom was not functional. I did the hard boot as suggested and I no longer get the unknown error and my .5 zoom works again.

THIS IS HAPPENING TO ME TOO!!!!!! apple support said it is probably a hardware issue. i do not have the funds to replace or repair my phone :( so so frustrating

Omfg! I’ve been having the exact same issue. Back camera stopped working out of nowhere. I tried a hard reset, update, deleted pics, everything. Apple support said it would be $655 to send my phone in for 3-5 days to get the “hardware issue” fixed. I put my phone in the fridge for 45 minutes and now my back camera works 😭

Same issue, front and rear camera stopped working right after upgrade to iOS 18.1. Apple claims it is hardware issue , but makes no sense that happened to both cameras right after upgrade

guys I totally feel for you cuz the same happened to me and I now believe that this might be a manufacturing defect which apple should replace for free

My normal photo in camera is now on 2x in default

my portrait is on 3x zoom and can’t be changed

the portrait effect doesn’t work anymore

i have tried resetting and everything nothing seems to work

quite frustrated cos I use my phone for

I have had this issue as well, and now still continue to. It’s not only me, my work friend had the same phone and she had to get it replaced.

I factory reset my phone which seemed to work for a while, except the 0.5 which is then now didn’t recognise since the new update. Meaning it’s apples fault, but we have to pay for a new phone or to get it fixed when it’s their own devices.
