Delete iPad from "Find my device"

I have an old 2017 iPad (model MLM2XLL/A) at home among other Apple devices. I don't know what generation it is. Why is it so hard to find this information?

My problem is when I leave the house, I get notifications that this old iPad "is left behind" while my other apple devices are not reported that way. How do I get rid of this notification for the old iPad without deleting it from my Apple account?

iPad Pro (2nd generation)

The iPad User Guide is a rich source of information about iPad and the many features of iPadOS.

Here is a direct link, to the relevant section of the Guide, that describes the Notify When Left Behind feature and its configuration:

Set separation alerts in case you leave a device behind in Find My on iPad - Apple Support

You can configure this feature to ignore specific locations (such as when deliberately leaving a device at home) while remaining active - and capable of generating alerts - when the device is being used elsewhere.

Hello Azor194,

(You do not need to do the below on the old iPad. It should be able to be done on any device. The steps below mimic iPhone, but iPad should be similar, if not the same).

  1. Open Find My
  2. Tap Devices
  3. Tap on your iPad
  4. Under Notifications, is there a Notify When Left Behind option?

I do apologize as I've never had an iPad but if you're receiving this notification, there should be a Notify When Left Behind option here.

If so,

  1. Tap Notify When Left Behind option
  2. You can toggle off Notify When Left Behind if you wish to never receive these notifications (NOT RECOMMENDED)

I personally recommend leaving this option on, tapping on New Location and adding your home as a location under Notify Me, Expect At. This will leave this notification on in case you leave it at a family or friend's house, but not when you leave it at home.

I hope this helps!
