Why does iphone SE switch to LTE and internet does not work when away from my house?

It switches to LTE because the range of Wi-Fi is about 100 feet, so if you are more than 100 feet from your house your only way of accessing the Internet is to use the cellular network. In the US the only cellular networks available are 4G/LTE, unless you have a 3rd generation SE, or an iPhone 12, 13, or 14.


If your internet is not accessible over LTE go to Settings/Cellular and make sure Cellular Data is turned on, and it is also turned on for the apps you want to use.


If you are using VPN, don’t. Delete the VPN profile and app.


If neither of these resolve the problem contact your carrier’s tech support.
