Authenticity of MagSafe case?

I just bought a clear Magsafe case for my iPhone 12. Stupidly, I bought it on Ebay. It fits, but doesn’t hold well to the charger. It says it is charging, but the battery level barely changes. When I charge my phone using the old lightning connection, it charges fine.

I no longer have the box, so cannot check the verification there. Is there any other way to see if a MagSafe case is authentic?

Thanks!

Thanks for your help.

I wanted “open box”, just to save some $$. I have looked at some YouTube videos concerning this, and by now I am fairly sure it is authentic. My problem has been that this is my first experience with Mag Safe and I find that it charges more slowly than the lightning cable. I was blaming the slowness on my case. Live and learn!

Thanks again for your reply.

Hi there georgiabyte,

While there isn't necessarily a way to confirm if the case you purchased is genuine or not, you could compare it to the one that Apple offers on their website here: iPhone 12 | 12 Pro Clear Case with MagSafe

If you believe the item you purchased may be counterfeit, you can report it using the form on this link: Apple - Legal - Counterfeit Questions

In the future, to avoid any issues like you're describing, we'd suggest purchasing iPhone accessories directly from Apple or an Apple Authorized Reseller.

Take care.
