I'm using the MacBook pro retina probably 2012 or 13 model, I need to do a software upgrade however i'm unable to get any update on it beyond the Catalina 10.15.7.
is it possible to do one of the later updates?

For the 15" Mid 2012 and Early 2013 models, the end of the line is Catalina. For the 15" Late 2013 model, it is Big Sur. Sounds like the OP needs to check > About This Mac.
