How to turn off McAfee Pop ups

Software is up todate. I went to a website the infected my computer "Turn on your Antivirus- Your Macafe has expired- Click here to renew-- Click to run Antivirus". Pop ups keep happening about every 30 seconds. I have tried every suggested way to stop it with no luck-

Go to Safari > Settings > Websites > Notifications, and Deny Notifications for all Websites.

Unless you have a specific need to have a Website pop up a Notification, then you will want to block it. There are not any websites that I use that I need to be notified of any action on screen, although that is just me. Allowing every website you come across to pop up a notification will make it much more likely that you will see the kind of Notifications that you had.

You can try to turn them on one at a time to determine which one is giving you problems. From the screen shot you posted, I would suspect the one named "NOTIFICATIONS".

Is sounds like you got it figured out. A reputable website will use the Notifications as intended and they can be useful, but that is not the case for every site.

I would say the same is true for the Pop-Up Windows setting that you posted also. Some sites will require a Pop-Up window to work correctly and will usually tell you that. Other sites may use that to Pop-Up a dialog box that looks like a Software Update to get you to install some software you do not want. Just be aware of phishing scams similar to the McAfee notification and don't give out your Apple ID and Password to one of those.
