Deleted Mail Reloads after delete.

I delete my email in the mail app on my m1 MacBook and it reloads soonafter. I have all the latest updates and do not like this as it loads mail that is over a month old. I have 3 gmail accounts this happens to. I have one from another service provider and another from Apple and they do not do this. Any help please?

OK thanks. it's likely due to a corrupted .plist

If these are all IMAP accounts, quit Mail, move this file to the desktop in case we want tom put it back...

~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail/Data/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist

~ tilde indicates  your user library folder

Apple hid the Users' Library folders...

Method 1:

  1. From the Finder, select the Go menu at top of the screen, and choose Go to Folder.
  2. In the window that opens, enter ~/Library, and click Go.

Setup Mail again.

If no god then quit Mail then put that file back.

I am saying I can set them, but the system keeps changing them back to the ones in my screenshot.

I change them and then when I look at them, they have changed back to the other ones that I changed them from. Does that make sense?

I do not know why it would overwrite what I have already overwritten. Google is obviously king here where I should be.
