Movies iTunes and TV shows iTunes apps not working.

On my Apple TV model A2843 with tvOS 16.5 (20L563) all the other apps work and can stream 4K movies with no issues but when I click on the Movies or TV Shows iTunes apps I get the “Movies” isn’t available right now. Check your Internet connection and try again.

I’ve tried logging out restarting it, unplugging it, resetting it to factory spec and nothing seems to work. I’ve been trying different things for two days now.

It was working correctly until I tried to see if I could get things not on my iPhone or Apple TV removed that falls under the TV apps folder. My phone has 27 sources connected apps on my account of which I only have 11 of those apps on phone or Apple TV.

Anyone have any ideas? Besides support because they haven’t been much help in the past. This is my 4th Apple TV box and once I moved up to my first box under the Apple TV app in Library it says “Your purchased movies or tv shows will show up here.” On my phone it only shows that I own 4 movies when in reality I have over 3k.

If the active Apple ID accounts match, then the library for that account should load. I can’t think of any reason why it wouldn’t, other than spotty internet connectivity.

I have found the experts at the Support staff very helpful and knowledgeable in my encounters. You can ask for a more senior staff member if the first responder is as stumped as me over this issue. Contact Apple for support and service (phone numbers) or start your support request online (chat/email/callback).

Exactly what did you do?

Removing downloads doesn’t affect purchase listings in your library. iTunes Store purchases are permanent and can’t be removed. Select purchases can optionally be hidden, one at a time, through a computer (not on iPhone or Apple TV box).

I think I need much more details to understand this part.

Turned out the only thing that I could do was to log out of my account and restart my Apple TV box. The picture is from what it shows is connected as a source to my Apple TV app on my iPhone. All that are not on are not on my phone or my Apple TV box.

That is about apps that the Apple TV app can connect to, for inclusion of their content in Watch Now, Up Next, and maybe in-app Search as well. These settings do not affect your TV app library, nor the iTunes Movies app, nor the iTunes TV Shows app.

If the login and reboot finally worked then perhaps it was a temporary glitch. I understand the frustration, but the reality is that but they are the only ones who can address it so if the issue occurs again you will need to go back to Apple support. If you know of others that also continue to experience this then encourage them to also be reporting as that will help escalate things. You can also give feedback using the form, you won't get a response that way but it's another way of letting them know of an issue.

Thanks but I’ve talked with a couple of supervisors from different departments and after the honeymoon stage it’s either it’s something that they are working on and should be addressed in the next update or they simply blow me off. There’s only been 3 or 4 if not more IOS updates from when I first tried to get it fixed going back a few years now. 🤷‍♀️

The Movies and TV Show iTunes apps started working again after I purchased a few movies. So at least that's back to normal.

Yeah the frustration with not having your movie libraries work is vasty old. My iPhone 7 Plus would time out every time I tried to load my library in the Apple TV app. Still to this day my Apple TV 4K still tells me when I purchase movies they'll show up here. My Mac Mini M1, which is my first apple computer on the Apple TV app it list's one movie I purchase back in February of 2022. My current iPhone 12 Max did have about 12 movies in my Library which had the latest one I purchased some two years before I had upgraded to my current phone. With all the help from support and the logging out and rebooting of all my devices my iPhone now only shows 4 movies in my library and latest purchases which are now some 5 years or so old. Only place I can see my movies and purchase history is on iTunes on my old windows computer that I fire up each year to do my taxes on. The Movies iTunes app does show my library and there is over 5k movies on there but it doesn't have the same layout and separation of the movies like the Apple TV app library does. Maybe someday they'll figure that all out.

Thanks for all the help guys, I greatly appreciate it.
