up date past catalina

why can i not update my imac past catalina

I have had it since new late 2013 27 inch I updated ram at new to 24 instead of the 12 I have plenty of room on hard drive I am at a loss

Your iMac does not have the system requirements to run macOS Big Sur or later. The last version of macOS compatible with your iMac 2013 is macOS Catalina.

I have a late 2013 21.5-inch iMac. No further updates since Catalina. Unfortunately!
