First, we want to make a distinction between songs or albums purchased through iTunes, versus songs downloaded for offline play through an Apple Music subscription. Songs that you bought through iTunes are yours and can be downloaded using these steps to Redownload music.

Now, if your offline music disappears, this music is not owned by you but is instead available as part of the Apple Music streaming service as long as the subscription is current and active. If you ever end the subscription, sign out of your account, or if the subscription is unpaid the offline music will be deleted immediately. Additionally changes to the Apple Music catalog happen from time to time and your music might be removed if the item is no longer offered.
