Why don’t my Face ID work

If your iPad detects a fault with its FaceID sensor array, in particular the IT Dot Projector, FaceID may be automatically disabled. The FaceID sensor may also be disabled of the device has had an unauthorised repair.
If an alert says Face ID has been disabled on your iPhone or iPad Pro - Apple Support
You would be best advised to seek assistance directly from from Apple Support. You can contact the Support Team using the Support link at top-right or bottom-left of this page. Alternatively, you can initiate and manage your support cases using the excellent Apple Support App. MIf not already installed on your iPhone, the App can be downloaded from the App Store:

This is generally a hardware issue. If the unit's on an OS version older than 16.5.1, you might be able to fix it by updating it from a computer or the Software Update function in Settings; otherwise, contact Apple Support.
