MacOS Notes App, Cursor jumps back when typing fast.

As Subject says, the cursor keeps jumping around while typing in the Notes App. This bug has been persistent among many versions and still no fixes for maybe a year. There's also a reddit thread about this with many users with the same experience. When will this be fixed?!?!?!

Under Keyboard, Text Input, Input Sources, turn off some or all of Correct Spelling Automatically, Capitalise Words Automatically, Show Inline predictive text, Add full stop etc.

Solved the problem in Notes for me.

Hello, Seems this is not a good solution and does not solve the 'real' problem. You have suggested to turn off all of the features that make a modern smart phone or smart device "smart". I agree, it solves your problem, but not the real issue that Apple needs to address.

The real issue a "an across device latency issue". Meaning if you close the app, in this case Notes on all of the device using the same iCloud account and open the app, Notes, on a single device the problem is gone until the app is opened on a 2nd or 3rd or 4th device. As more devices open the app the problem gets worse.

Apple really needs to pay attention to this issue and solve it.

Band-aid fixes such as the one you suggested are great for the short-term, but not a long-term solution.

And Notes is not the only app affected. My 2 cents, it's an iCloud sync issue. Similar to the native mail app not syncing flagged mail, some read/unread mail, etc. Or Numbers not having the updated formulas and values on all devices at the same time. Ugh Apple. Solve it. Please.

Tried tables in Notes for the first time and immediately regretted it: ran into this (Mac OS, updated). Basically, typing inside a Notes table cell is hopeless unless you T...Y...P...E...S...O...S...L...O...W...L...Y.

It is easy to reproduce: Create a table and in a cell type ******** rapidly; your cursor will *not* be at the end of line. FWIW, the textbox I am currently typing into (on Mac Safari) does not have this bug.

I'm a developer, and I suspect the typing rate is cancelling a service (autocorrect?) but not forwarding the cursor.

I have observed this as well. I am on Macbook Air M1 with Sonoma 14.2. I use tables to help organize some of the text, but often find that the cursor bounces around the table cell which causes spelling issues and severe mistypings . I have not noticed this in Pages or Keynote or numbers (nor have I seen this in Microsoft OneNote.)

This just started happening to me last weekend after I (finally) updated my iPhone 13 to version 17.2.1 (don't remember what I had before, but definitely version 16 or earlier). It got increasingly worse to the point where not even typing slowly would fix it - no matter what, the cursor immediately moved a space or two back on the tables in Notes app. For the first time, I tried it on my macbook air today, and it nearly drove me mad.

User 'Ozhoom's suggestion helped a bit and I can at least write somewhat, but it's not what it should be. And that shouldn't be the best "fix" solution for a smart phone. As other have mentioned, the fact that it happens across ALL devices, and not just a few iPhone versions, means that the fault lies with the app itself. This is very annoying as I use Notes app Tables almost constantly in day-to-day life. A fix NEEDS to come, and it needs to be higher up on the priority list.

I'm already regretting updating my iPhone and hesitant to update to the newest 17.3, which shouldn't be anyone's experience with issues like this.
