Documents folder missing

My Documents folder has disappeared from my side toolbar; how do I get it back?

My Documents folder is invisible, I can see it but I can't open it. How do I turn it visible? I accidentally deleted the folder, and when I went to restore it, it was greyed out. I was able to restore it, however, when I attempt to open it or move it to the correct location I get a message saying the folder is invisible.

Choose Preferences from the Finder menu, click on Sidebar, and check the box for it.
