iPhone 14 pro max ringer volume changes on its own.

My iPhones ringer volume automatically changes to a random volume on its own. I have it set to change with buttons in the sound setting. I know I don’t hit the buttons and I know the volume doesn’t change while watching videos or listening to music with or without headphones in. I leave the ringer volume on the lowest setting at all times and it will go up when listening to music or watching videos even when I don’t change the video or music volume. It will also go to max during charge time at night. I will verify that it’s on low setting and the alarm volume is low but when it goes off it causes me to almost have a heart attack because it goes to max when it goes off. Sometimes it extremely loud and the volume isn’t adjust up and some times it is.

I’ve also had problems with the keyboard sounds being normal to loud to silent all in the same sitting. This is so annoying.

Hi! I had the same problem! I was missing important calls because it would ring once while I was away from my phone & then the ringer would be barely audible!!

GOOD NEWS though, my Credo phone tech support lady was able to immediately identify the problem once I explained everything I had done to try to resolve just like you had. It turns out with the last update I had done my phone had Face ID features turned ON that affect sound when your phone is locked or you are not directly looking at your **** phone!!

To fix problem, do this:

Turn OFF this annoying feature preset to ON by going to the

Settings App --> Face ID & Passcode -->Enter Passcode if needed -->

Go to Set Up Face ID & Passcode Section

Scroll down to the ATTENTION Section

Go to the Attention Aware Feature setting and Turn this OFF !!

If you read what this feature is below it, it specifically says "it will check for your attention before dimming the display, expanding a notification when locked, or LOWERING THE VOLUME OF SOME ALERTS!!!" Although, this last part is not capitalized... but should be!!!

Dang, this should NOT be preselected without the users knowledge or warning of what it does!! I didn't even set up Face ID & this feature was on!!! There is no way I ever could have intuited what was happening here or even thought to check this setting. It's pretty outrageous that you were not able to get help with this problem so I sincerely hope Apple will fix this issue. I'll see if there is a way to alert them, but I thought of you when I was searching for this solution and wanted to at least share with you!

Hopefully you have gotten help or resolved this issue by now but if not, here is the answer!

Turn this feature OFF!!

Hi there Musclechunks,

If the volume for alerts on your iPhone is changing unexpectedly, you'll want to start by making sure your iPhone is running the latest iOS version, which is iOS 16.5.1. You can see the currently installed version by going to Settings > General > About > Software Version. If needed, learn how to update your iPhone here: Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

If your iPhone is up-to-date and this behavior persists, reaching out to Apple Support for more guidance is the next best step. This link will help you get started: Contact - Official Apple Support

Take care.

I'm suspecting you have already checked this but if not, you should definitely check and understand the "Sounds & Haptics Setting" in Settings: If the RINGTONE AND ALERTS Change with Buttons feature is "ON" you might be inadvertently adjusting the sound with the volume buttons on your phone. You may want to turn this feature "OFF" after setting the volume where you want it to be. Just another thought. :)

Yes it’s updated. It’s set to automatic updates. Let’s see where to begin with the troubleshooting.

reset network settings.

reset Bluetooth device.

Forgot and reconnected Bluetooth.

factory reset.

replacement phone.

called my network provided and troubleshooted the network and the phone with them.

called Apple support and got nothing other than factory reset and a replacement phone.
